The bilibo is a strange bowl shaped toy from Switzerland. It is designed to encourage open ended and creative play. It can be used in whatever ways a child dreams up. It also allows the child to be active by rocking, spinning or balancing in it. I have found it to be a fun tool for my daughter who has special emotional needs.

Education is no doubt a very important aspect of a child's life , but unfortunately it has become a commercial proposition now.Not all the educated people are book lovers nor do they develop a reading habit - this has to be either cultivated right from the childhood or is inherent in an individual.

If you are the parent or caregiver of preschoolers, you can give them a great head start by reading to them regularly, every day if possible. Some children can be reading chapter books by age four. Others may be just starting to notice the connection between the squiggly lines on the page and the words that you are saying. Don't worry about what other people's kids are able to do. Remember that the goal is to develop a love of reading, not just the skills.

Because patience is not an innate virtue, young children must be taught the art of waiting for what they want. Because you are more experienced in knowing what’s best for your child, you’re more qualified to control when he can do what he wants to do and what conditions must be met before he does it. Explain these conditions clearly.

“Don’t talk to strangers” is an admonition millions of parents give to their young children. The warning is valid because the world is no longer a safe place especially for young children. Children need to learn how to behave with strangers, just as they need to learn how to interact with family, friends, and acquaintances. When you’re with your child, minimize her fear of strangers by teaching her how to be friendly to people she doesn’t know. At the same time, teach her what to do whe...

Just as we, adults, find ourselves in a bad mood for no apparent reason, children are sometimes whiny and cranky even though their physical needs have been met. If your child is always whining, it is because she wants attention or wants her own way. One way to stop them doing this is to ignore them even if it seems impossible to do it. Your child will soon learn that asking nicely speaks louder than being whiny and cranky.

Because time has no meaning to a child under six years old, hurrying has no great advantages. Disguise urging your child to “come on” or “please hurry” by running races with her or by giving her chances to run to your arms. Turn instructions into fun, not frustrating orders. Let your child feel she’s in control of how slow or fast she does things, so she won’t need to dawdle to exert influence over the pace of events.

In today’s world of high-tech, low-energy toys and games, your child can easily let her fingers – not her legs – do the walking. However, young children need physical activity to develop their muscles and minds. Resist the urge to buy yourself some free time by constantly plunking your preschooler in front of an electronic babysitter. Parent-approved computer and video games and educational television programs can be constructive teaching tools. However, if used excessively, they can lay ...
